Bead Bijou was launched in the summer of 2002 by Jacquelyn Cooper.  Originally, Jacquelyn started making jewelry for herself, as well as gifts for family and friends. Soon, strangers were stopping her on the street, wanting to buy her bracelets right off her wrist. With the encouragement of her family, she decided to listen to her creative side and turn a hobby into a full-time business.

Every piece is completely handcrafted, not mass-produced, using the finest materials available including Swarovski crystals, semi-precious gemstones, sterling silver beads and components, as well as handmade sterling silver Bali beads.

Jacquelyn spends considerable time trying to find the right balance of colors, shapes, and textures in each piece. Whether finding the proper weight and drape of a bracelet, to designing earrings for maximum sway and sparkle, it's critical that her jewelry is not only pleasing to the eye, but feels comfortable when worn.

Her jewelry is also designed to be durable as well as beautiful.  Each dangle or charm is hand-wrapped sterling silver.  Even clasps are linked to chains with this technique, which is significantly more secure than using jump rings that can expand and separate.  Her pieces may be more labor intensive, but those that wear her jewelry feel confident that it was made to last for many years to come.
